Alexir makes waves at Cowes

9 September 2005

Printed folded carton specialist Alexir Packaging once again chartered the "Great Escape" - a Class 8, Jenneau 52.5 yacht - to race at Cowes week earlier this year. The Alexir crews included employees, suppliers, clients and end-users.

"Yacht racing is not only enjoyable but really enhances teamwork and brings people closer together," said managing director and chairman, Robert Davison. "By properly working as a team it quickly becomes obvious how much more efficient you become and this is appreciated by all those participating who then take it back to their workplace.

"With machine operators mixing with packaging specifiers and end-users, everybody benefits from the experience. It is also great to have secured third place on three of the six days after changing crew every day."

A participating client commented that, "this has got to be the best corporate day out I have ever experienced, definitely out of the ordinary as we had to work really hard. I learned a lot, as well as having a brilliant time. It will always stand out in my memory".
