The company – full name Ecoline Ettiketiertechnik AG – was founded in 2001 by Frank Wenzinger, who remains as md. In the past six years Wenzinger's team has built up sales, mainly in Switzerland, of a comprehensive range of entry-level, side, bottom and top labellers. The desire to significantly expand its geographical sales base, however, has seen Alan Willett, with his considerable labelling sector knowledge and expertise, get involved. Last month Ecoline opened a German sales office in Stuttgart and the company now plans establishing other similar facilities across Europe and beyond in the short-to-medium term.
Joining Willett at Ecoline is Mike Fox, former technical director at Willett and md of Willett UK companies, who becomes chairman. He says: “Ecoline constantly develops and improves its labelling equipment, currently assembled and marketed from its HQ in Siebnen near Zurich. We are focusing principally on developing and marketing easy-to-use, highly reliable machines operating at up to 40m/min. Our labellers are used in a wide range of industries, covering food, beverage, pharma, digital media and many more.”
The new company is a subsidiary of Liechtenstein-based AWAG Establishment, a charitable establishment investing in property and business opportunities. Any profits made by AWAG will eventually go to two charities in which Willett is a trustee - the Canterbury Cathedral Trust Fund and the Alan Willett Charitable Foundation.
