AIMPLAS fosters discussion on bioplastics in the VI edition of its international seminar

AIMPLAS, the Plastics Technology Centre, has organized on 1 and 2 March 2017 the VI edition of its international seminar on Biopolymers and Sustainable Composites.

The meeting, having more than 150 professionals in its last edition in 2014, consolidates itself in 2017 with a programme with more than twenty experts and companies from the sector, who will discuss the challenges and opportunities that bioplastics offer, as well as the main innovations on biodegradable plastic materials from renewable sources.

The seminar, sponsored by Basf, Kuraray and Novamont, has been divided in two days. In the first day, trends and the role of bioplastics in the economy of the future will be tackled from a general approach. Then, the main developments on raw materials will be discussed and the most innovative applications in the packaging sector will be showcased.

The second day will begin with a review of the current regulations on the use of biopolymers at industrial level and then a time form biotechnology and biopolymers production. The seminar will end with a discussion between different speakers, where cases of success and the state-of-the-art industrial applications will be showcased, as well as those performed by sectors such as food, construction, textile, fishing and agriculture.
