H.B. Fuller claims its new packaging hot melt adhesives with enhanced thermal stability, can deliver ‘the lowest cost in use of any hot melt on the market’.

Advantra hot melt, based on proprietary H.B. Fuller technology, is said to offer trouble free, superior performance in case and carton sealing, tray forming and multi-wall and speciality bags. It is also suitable for ‘challenging’ applications such as high memory boards and metallised folding boxes. Users can reduce adhesive costs by as much as 15-30%, adds the company.

Application size and placement can be precisely controlled because the adhesive is runs smoothly with no stringing or tailing, improving the finished pack appearance. Added to which, gel and char are virtually eliminated, so there is no clogging of lines or nozzles, which can cut maintenance time and costs.

Advantra hot melt maintains its bonds in extremes of hot and cold, which results in fewer customer returns and replacement costs. It solidifies to an unobtrusive light colour that enhances the finished product appearance.

Further benefits are Advantra’s low odour, absence of solvents and very low emissions. Their low density also contributes to the recycling of cartons and paperboard by making the adhesive easier to separate in the repulping process versus traditional EVA hot melt adhesives.

“With Advantra, we are raising the standard for hot melt adhesives with a product that delivers exceptional performance and cuts customer costs,” said Christian Becker, Application Manager at H.B. Fuller.
