Accurate labels

17 August 2005

A high speed RFID print/apply labelling system that the company says will "allay user fears over misshipments due to faulty RFID labels" has been launched by Avery Dennison Printer Systems.

The ALX RFID Print/Apply encodes and prints unique RFID labels and automatically applies them to cartons, cases and pallets, "detecting and then rejecting" miscoded or unreadable labels during encoding. Faulty labels are rewound with spent media carrier onto the rewind apparatus, after which the next label is encoded, printed and applied.

The system also features a "jump-the-bump" facility that automatically guides the printhead over the "bump" created by the embedded RFID chip.
