£2.5M investment by Delta Packaging

5 July 2004

Carton manufacturer Delta Packaging has switched on a new printing and die-cutting machine. The £2.5M Bobst Lemanic eight-colour line flexo press , said to be the only one of its type in Europe, represents one of the biggest investments in the manufacturing industry in Northern Ireland in recent years. The new technology signified the completion of an investment programme in association with Invest Northern Ireland, which commenced in 1997.

The high speed multi functional automated facility will give Delta packaging the ability to compete effectively for contracts with major buyers and to ensure the company retains a competitive advantage in delivering to its existing client base, which includes McDonalds, Gillette, and KFC among others.

Commenting on the investment Delta Packaging Chairman Terry Cross said: "This press offers us unprecedented benefits – inks based on eco-friendly water instead of hazardous solvents, printing from the reel on both sides simultaneously and die-cutting in line to unsurpassed levels of speed and accuracy."
