£1M investment for McGurk

5 July 2004

The Hull-based McGurk Group, which offers an end-to-end digital design, print and packaging solution, has invested £1M in new premises following the rapid expansion of the group over the past few years. The new premises, which will house both the labels and packaging division, formerly known as System Reel, and McGurk Logistics, are based on the A63, the city's main highway link to the motorway network.

Standing at 10 000ft², the new site is almost double the size of the existing operation, allowing the labels and packaging division to install brand new state of the art machinery and McGurk Logistics to purchase three new vehicles, bringing the fleet up to 14.

"Owing to the continued expansion of the McGurk Group, we have found that the current premises are proving inefficient for the workload. With the extra space afforded by the new site, we are able to install more machinery, including a new 8-colour UV flexo press with cold foil blocking and de-lam/re-lam unit," said managing director of McGurk Labels and Packaging Gary McGurk. This will help us to expand the product range, enabling us to be more competitive within the higher volume sector and it will at least treble our current capacity."
