US APPROVAL FOR HERBERT WEIGH LABELLING EQUIPMENT

UK market leaders, Herbert Industrial have now set in place compliance for their weigh labelling equipment with the US regulatory framework. This has included the granting of metrological approvals by the National Conference for Weights and Measures (NCWM), as well as certification against Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Standards for safety of machinery.

Herbert are now positioned to deliver a comprehensive range of weigh label technology to the US food processing sector, from manual to fully automatic systems linking factory control systems, vision verification systems and robotics.

Herbert’s Gemini Lightning automatic weigh labelling machines and their IH500 scale and printer systems were all tested against the US legal metrology requirements by the NCWM in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. As well as having to operate in the US weight units of pounds, the machinery underwent extensive metrological testing over their full operating range. This included a 100 hour and 100,000 weighings continuous operation permanence tests to ensure the machines’ performance did not deteriorate with time or continued use.

The safety assessment against Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards, covering safety aspects of mechanical and electrical design and machine production, was conducted concurrently.
