RTS Appoints Croquette to Lead UK Medical Device Sales

16 May 2008

RTS Flexible Systems, the leading vision-guided robotic automation specialist, has appointed Etienne Croquette to drive sales in the UK medical device sector.

The post has been created to reflect growing interest in RTS’ bespoke vision-guided fast-picking robotic technology in end-of-line packaging and product handling applications. Currently UK Sales Manager for Food Manufacturing, Etienne in his new role, will be responsible for medical device sales in the UK.

Through its Life Science Division, RTS is already a well-established name in drug delivery automation systems. RTS’ Flexible Systems’ fast-picking robotic solutions are already widely used in food and FMCG applications across the UK. RTS provides bespoke solutions which integrate the speed and flexibility of vision-guided robots with the latest production technologies for product identification, tracking and analysis. Central to RTS’ success is its unique PixCellTM 2D and 3D vision integration software.

“Creating a focus on medical device applications was a logical move for us. It’s vital for an integrator to understand the demands of traceability and compliance to industry standards such as GAMP.

“Often the need to save labour is the starting point for end-of-line packaging or product handling issues that can be solved by robotic automation. But the solution may not just be to “bolt-on” an island of technology. We like to encourage our customers to think in a more holistic way about the benefits of automation on the entire production process.

“In this way, armed with industry-specific expertise, we can work with customers to help develop cast-iron justifications for automation. We can explore the capabilities of robot-based systems to introduce added flexibility in production and achieve cost-savings: for example by increasing capacity, production flexibility or identifying product defects at an early stage.”
