15 August 2019

Brand design agency Vault49 has appointed Jonathan Bateman as Design Director at its London office.

Bateman leaves his previous post of Design Director at Design Bridge, bringing 12 years of integrated comms experience and a history of work for top clients including KFC, Guinness, Cadbury, and Linton among others. At Vault49, Bateman will play a key role in continuing to grow its culture and the London office, which launched this past April following the agency’s longtime success in New York.

Bateman says: “I’d known of Vault49’s work for years and always admired their beautifully crafted approach, especially on limited edition packaging for Diageo.

“But it was seeing the Pepsi UEFA Champions League campaign that really caught my attention. I admired the way they took that attention to detail in both idea and execution and communicated it through multi-channel outputs, from packaging to key visual, social and even activation.

“I can’t wait to collaborate with the expertise of the team at Vault49 and watch big ideas come to life with bold and disruptive craft. The prospect of being a part of the London office in these very early days is super inspiring. I’m really excited to make my mark and help grow the Vault49 culture and London team.”

Paul Woodvine, Managing Creative Director, Vault49, London, says: “Jonny has contributed to the success of a some of the world’s biggest brands and his knowledge of brand, packaging and digital comms will bolster Vault49’s capabilities as we continue to imagine what’s next for London. Jonny will bring a unique energy to Vault49. He leads by example, inspires those around him and will be a great mentor, making him the perfect fit for our agency, which has a strong culture and provides a home for talented creatives.”

Batemans’s role will include overseeing and inspiring the team to create big ideas for brand campaigns that will stretch across multiple channels and outputs. He will also focus on the day-to-day wellbeing and culture of the team.
