Sealed Air Europe is rolling out its Fill-Air Rocket inflatable void-fill system to the European market.
Designed for use with Sealed Air’s Fill-Air Extreme and Fill-Air Extreme Efficiency inflatable void-fill film, the new Fill-Air Rocket is said to be smaller and lighter than previous systems, and operates at an “unparalleled production speed” of 30 metres of film per minute, to meet customers’ needs for faster and more efficient inflatable cushioning production.
Compatible with 200mm, 250mm and 300mm film widths and lengths of 130mm and 200mm, the Fill-Air Rocket system has a quick start feature that instantaneously begins producing bags.
The instant start mechanism effectively triples bag production during the first 20 seconds of operation, Sealed Air Europe says, and in some cases "eliminates the need" for void-fill accumulation.
Andy Robinson, European product manager at Sealed Air, says: “The Fill-Air Rocket system uses advanced technology that enables precise and consistent sealing that determines optimum air pillow performance and ensures the product is protected until it reaches the customer.”
Features include active film web tracking, which automatically improves the film feed, and innovative cross seal identification sensors that enable the Fill-Air Rocket system to stop and start automatically, “guaranteeing consistent, optimally filled bags”.
An enhanced inflation nozzle makes it easier to load film, and an automated edge alignment system eliminates the need for manual adjustment, resulting in more consistent cushions throughout the production cycle, according to the company.
The Fill-Air Rocket system also has a ‘quiet mode’ option, in which the system continues to inflate material at 20m/min.
By enhancing fill consistency and seal quality, Robinson adds, “fewer bags are necessary to adequately produce products”.
Sealed Air’s Fill-Air Extreme void-fill film is also said to offer a “25% carbon footprint compared to previous generation models”.
