Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Coty, Chanel, Beiersdorf, SC Johnson and Edgewell were just some of the 1,000 top decision makers attending the inaugural ADF&PCD Shanghai 2018.

Attendees at the event, which is focused on the aerosol, dispensing, perfume and cosmetic packaging market, were treated to an incredible opportunity to source innovations and solutions on the show floor, plus two days of inspirational content, from leading names including L'Oréal, Kao, Shanghai Jahwa, Herborist, Shiseido and Coty.

Paul Macdonald, global brand director of the Easyfairs Packaging Portfolio, commented: “This was Easyfairs’ first foray into the Chinese market and the results have surpassed all of our expectations, with this inaugural success showing that the region is looking to take the industry to the next level and ADF&PCD wants to be at the heart of this change. Planning is already underway for 2019, with some exciting news on the horizon, so stay tuned.”

The Pentawards Conference gave visitors unique access to leading packaging designers and international brands. The conference focused on the latest trends and industry developments, regions and sectors, looking at where innovation is coming from and how to target new markets. Brands passing on their best practices included Shiseido, Shanghai Jahwa, Herborist, Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts, BETC, YANG Design and Centdegrés.

“ADF&PCD Shanghai and the Pentawards Conference is a great place for the packaging design community to come together and be inspired. We were proud to partner with this event and host some of the most respected cosmetic brands in China.” Rhonda Jiang, editor-in-chief, Package & Design Magazine.

In addition to The Pentawards Conference, ADF&PCD Shanghai 2018 featured The Pentawards Exhibit. This feature was designed to provide visitors with a global perspective of the best and most creative packaging designs from last year.

The event also featured an Aerosol & Dispensing Conference, with a who’s who of global brands discussing the latest market trends, challenges and opportunities.

“I saw a great variety of packaging innovations from Chinese and international suppliers at ADF&PCD Shanghai. As chief designer of Shanghai Jahwa Corporation I found this event highly relevant for packaging design professionals like me as it also provided an amazing networking opportunity.” Mr Xu Jun, chief designer, Shanghai Jahwa Corporation.

Alongside these educational opportunities, ADF&PCD hosted leading exhibitors from around the world, such as Dongguan Mingfeng Packaging, Kurz Group, Lindal Group, Stribbons, Clayton Corporation and Dongguan Mingfeng Packaging Co., Ltd.

Ric Berger, director of sales at Clayton Corporation, commented: “We made some really good contacts that we wouldn’t have been able to meet anywhere else, including useful prospects from Singapore, Malaysia and Japan. For the aerosol industry it is the best place to meet big brands with real projects.”

Carol Lee, marketing manager at KURZ, agreed: “The most successful thing about the show has been the companies we have been able to meet. We had really good conversations with all the major brands, including L’Oréal, Unilever, Shiseido and many more.”
