EVRYTHNG Founder Andy Hobsbawm Appointed to Active and Intelligent Packaging Industry Association Board

EVRYTHNG, the Internet of Things (IoT) Smart Products Platform that connects consumer products to the Web with real-time data to drive applications and experiences, today announces the appointment of Founder and CMO, Andy Hobsbawm, to the Active and Intelligent Packaging Industry Association (AIPIA) Advisory Board.

Under the leadership of new President, Dick de Koning, EVRYTHNG now takes its place at the forefront of AIPIA's strategy and mission to accelerate the smart packaging industry.

AIPIA's mission is to reduce supply chain costs, reduce waste, and increase its members' profitability through the implementation of technological solutions in packaging. With the financial value of global counterfeit markets estimated at $700 billion, the benefits of smart packaging as an anti-fraud measure are considerable. Through IoT connectivity, products can offer brand and revenue protection, sending real-time tracking intelligence, triggering alerts if a product is in the wrong location or using a duplicated consumer code - decreasing fraud and improving supply chain logistics.

The appointment of Hobsbawm comes as part of EVRYTHNG's ongoing commitment to fulfilling the potential of IoT across both the embedded system and smart packaging markets - building on its existing ecosystem connections.

Over the past year EVRYTHNG has announced partnerships with packaging materials and solutions pioneer, Avery Dennison, to make supply chains smarter and enrich the consumer product experience with digital interaction, and printed electronics expert, Thinfilm, to produce smart, cloud-connected labels. EVRYTHNG and Thinfilm previously collaborated to demonstrate the power of smart labelling with the development of a connected bottle for Diageo's Johnnie Walker Blue label whisky.

"It is a privilege to bring my IoT experience to an association that is at the cutting edge of printed electronics and smart packaging innovation," said Hobsbawm. "We're witnessing smart packaging change the competitive landscape of products. In combination with state of the art cloud technology, it enables brands to turn on-pack real estate into an owned digital media channel and real-time service delivery interface. Perhaps the even greater potential lies in the ability to streamline the supply chain, allowing brands to track the product from factory to consumer, apply anti-counterfeit measures, and quality controls."

Commenting on Hobsbawm's appointment, AIPIA President Dick de Koning said: "We're thrilled to welcome EVRYTHNG to the Advisory Board. The addition of such an experienced and knowledgeable Internet of Things specialist will assist the association in its strategic vision to drive the growth of active and intelligent packaging, using the very latest in cloud technology."
