API scores a winning goal with design for Champagne Taittinger’s limited edition bottle

Brand empowerment specialist API Group has developed a luxurious bespoke packaging solution for Champagne Taittinger’s limited edition FIFA World Cup™ bottle for 2018.

Following a long-term association with the global drinks brand, API Group was selected to create the perfect finish for Champagne Taittinger’s Brut Reserve NV.

Capitalising on Taittinger’s position as the official Champagne for FIFA World Cup™ in Russia 2018, the packaging design features a blue and silver ‘cosmic theme’ to reflect the host country’s achievements in space.

API Group used Fresnel lens technology to elevate the brand packaging’s iconic bubbles into dazzling diamond footballs, which will ensure the product stood out on shelf and positioned itself a must have collector’s item for football and Champagne fans alike.

The carton also features the FIFA World Cup™ trophy depicted on the packaging in a silver metallic foil finish.

David Peters, Creative Development Manager at API Group, said: “Our goal with an iconic brand like Champagne Taittinger is to create packaging which not only reinforces customer’s image of the brand, but also elevates it through embellishments that offer interest and intrigue.

“To achieve the perfect finish for the FIFA World Cup™ souvenir packaging, we worked closely with Taittinger’s design team throughout to ensure we created a must have luxury item for customers.”

API Group first developed its Fresnel lens technology for Champagne Taittinger in 2012 to capture the luxurious essence of the Champagne Taittinger and the bubbles which are synonymous with quality Champagne.

Over the last five years, API has continued to evolve and innovate across the Taittinger portfolio of products and led on the design for the Champagne’s FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 offering.

Clovis Taittinger, said of the limited-edition souvenir bottles and the association with Champagne Taittinger: “With both great victories and great defeats, we carry with us the memory of result, or an atmosphere, but that emotion fades. Even the greatest.

“The great thing about football is a love that is constantly reviewing itself, from match to match, goal to goal, generation to generation; through each of these great moments. Love for football, and sports in general makes us love other humans, the future, adventure…simply because.

“Driven by passion each match is a stage in your life, as is every glass of champagne shared with someone else.”
