New centrifuge range from Thermo

May 2005

Thermo Electron has released the refrigerated and ventilated Micromax Microcentrifuge, particularly aimed at professionals in DNA or RNA molecular biology, clinical and forensic labs.
The unit is easy to operate and clean, and is capable of producing a force of up to 21,000 xg at speeds of 15,000 rpm for more separating power. It accelerates to full speed in less than 15 seconds, minimising wait time, while control over g-force, braking rates and timing ensures a greater centrifugation consistency. Controls are microprocessor-based for added reliability.

The company has also launched the B4i and C3i centrifuges. The latest in a broad line of mid-sized centrifuges, these multifunction units are available in ventilated and refrigerated versions. Ideal for clinical biology, they have a high capacity swing-out rotor (4x290 mL), come equipped with a quiet, brushless induction motor and operate at up to 14,000 rpm with a relative centrifugal force of 18,407 g.

Accessories are available for additional applications, including analytical biology, cytology (slides), molecular biology plates or microvolumes and cell culture.
