LED improves quality control

SICK (UK) has increased the intensity, brightness and accuracy of opto-sensor technology with a new design of LED designed to enable faster and more accurate quality control in the packaging industry, says the company.

Pin-Point is said to deliver performance comparable to a short-range laser scanner and will improve detection reliability and the capacity to detect longer ranges in SICK’s LED-based photoelectric switches and photoelectric proximity switches.

They will detect much smaller objects, down to 1mm, and distances up to 500mm.
