Nampak

Tom Reid has been appointed as managing director of Nampak Europe, with responsibility for four operating divisions - Folding cartons - Long run and Short-run, Healthcare, and Plastics, across 22 UK and mainland Europe facilities. Most recently in charge of Nampak Plastics Europe, Reid's previous roles include heading up the company's Foodcan operations and its corrugated business in southern Africa.

MeadWestvaco

MeadWestvaco Corporation has announced that Peter Doodeman, previously vice-president at Sara Lee Corporation and group president, Sara Lee Foods Europe, has joined as managing director, Consumer Solutions Group. His key role will be to focus on growth strategies for the company's consumer packaging solutions business, with particular emphasis on the food and beverage, health and beauty and tobacco sectors.

DataLase

DataLase, originator of the award-winning DataLase process, has a new European sales manager. To be in charge of promoting DataLase laser imaging solutions throughout mainland Europe, Olaf Jepsen brings a “depth of knowledge of the European laser industry”. He has over 20 years' experience in managerial sales positions for companies such as 4G Systems and Alltec.

Lock Inspection Systems

Simon Taylor, who has 20 years’ international marketing and sales experience, has been appointed as marketing and sales manager at metal detection specialist Lock Inspection Systems, where his remit will include responsibility for both UK and export sales.

Endoline Machinery

Greg Austin has joined end-of-line packaging machinery manufacturer Endoline Machinery as regional sales manager for the Midlands and East of England from linear motion system producer THK. Reporting to UK sales manager Andy Phillips, his clients will include Boots, McCain Foods and Unilever.

Linpac Recycling

Linpac Recycling, which claims to be the UK's biggest recycler of rigid plastics, has appointed Ben Elkington, who has worked for the firm since 2004 as technical manager and has a strong plastic product development background, as technical sales manager. He will be responsible for developing new business and supporting existing customers in this specially created role.

Rapid Action Packaging

Mervyn Glew, who has considerable experience as a logistics and supply chain manager dealing with high street deliveries, third party distribution and warehousing and stock management/manufacturing, has taken up the position of logistics manager at London-based flexible food wrap and carton sandwich wedge specialist Rapid Action Packaging (RAP).

MPMA

Nick Mullen has been appointed as the new director of the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association, taking over from Tony Woods, who retired at the end of 2007 after seven years in the role.
