STEFAN ANGWALD – chief executive

Rexam plc has appointed Stefan Angwald to succeed Rolf Börjesson as chief executive. He joined the company this month as a director and chief executive designate and will assume his new role after the agm in May. At the same time Rolf Börjesson will become non-executive chairman of Rexam and Jeremy Lancaster, the current chairman, will retire. Mr Angwald, who is 54, was until recently the chief executive officer of SCA Hygiene. He has held various senior positions within the SCA group, most of them on international assignment. He successfully pioneered SCA's hygiene products in a number of markets before setting up operations in the North American market in the early 80s. Posted to Europe in the mid 80s, he was a key player in building the hygiene business from a relatively modest European operation to a leading international £3.5bn business with manufacturing and distribution in more than 40 countries and employing 18 000 people.

THIERRY LAINEZ – sales and business development manager

Crown Holdings, Inc has appointed Thierry Lainez as sales and business development manager for its Crown Closures Europe affiliate. Mr Lainez will have responsibility for the sales and marketing of metal closures in France as well as product development, marketing and communications services throughout Europe. He will report to Andrew Dakin, sales and marketing director. He was previously sales and marketing manager for Closures Europe France.

JOHN CLINTON – senior vice-president

CROWN has made John Clinton responsible for beverage can sales in Europe and the Middle East and will be based in Paris. He joined the company 10 years ago as UK customer services and logistics manager, subsequently becoming commercial director for the UK before moving to Paris as Bevcan's vice-president sales and marketing.

MIKE CLARK – chief executive officer

BRITTON GROUP has a new chief executive officer who will head up multiple manufacturing sites throughout the UK which produce over 110 000 tonnes of plastic films each year and have annual sales of £85M. Mr Clark is a former chief executive of Macfarlane Plastics and, subsequently, Tyco Plastics UK division, and takes on the post following the retirement of executive chairman Dick Searle.

DAVE ROSEN - managing director

PRESSURE SENSITIVE film maker, Flexcon, has appointed Dave Rosen as managing director of the European operations. He was most recently director of corporate business development. He has a background in polymeric coating as well as business to business marketing management.

LES RAFFERTY – northern sales executive

VIDEOJET has appointed Les Rafferty as northern sales executive. He has worked for a number of print-related companies, including 13 years with Domino, where he filled a number of posts including northern service manager. Paul Taylor has also rejoined Domino to head up its graphics division. Prior to 1999 he was systems sales manager at the company.

ANDREW OSBORNE SMITH – managing director

ANSON PACKAGING's new managing director Andrew Osborne Smith was previously the company's operations director and played a leading role in the creation of Anson Food Service following the acquisition of Almond Plastics. He was also instrumental in the development of the manufacturing structure at Anson.

FRANCIS LABBÉ – chief executive officer

DOMINIQUE DAMON has decided to leave the Impress Group and Francis Labbé will succeed her as chief executive officer with immediate effect. Francis Labbé held executive positions at Schlumberger, Valeo, CarnaudMetalbox and Crown Cork & Seal before becoming executive group director of Rexam Packaging plc, responsible for the Plastics and Glass division, in 2000.

ANDREW PEARCE – managing director

PALLET MANUFACTURER and operator of Palogistics systems, Whirlowdale, has promoted sales director Andrew Pearce to the position of managing director. Mr Pearce said: "We have some very ambitious plans for the company, which will see Whirlowdale become one of the largest suppliers of pallets in the UK. Already we have implemented a growth strategy that includes significant investment in new machinery and new staff at our head office and at our sites around the country."
