Autobox - the Leighton Buzzard-based short-run box-making system manufacturer, has appointed Barry Tabor as md and promoted Simon Needham, sales manager for the past six years, to export sales manager. Tabor joined Autobox in March 2006 as sales director. His new responsibilities will include implementing a three-year strategic plan aimed at growing the business.

Sappi - Ralph Boëttger, an executive director of Imperial Holdings since 2002 responsible for the company’s international logistics operations, aviation division and heavy commercial vehicle distribution business, joined Sappi, the global paper producer, on July 1 as ceo. A chartered accountant with wide general management experience, South African Boëttger says he was attracted to the new role by Sappi’s “global footprint, strong history of success and the tremendous upside potential the business has to grow stakeholder wealth”.

Linpac Plastics - Linpac Plastics has appointed Alan Davey as its new director of innovations, where he will oversee new product development throughout both Linpac Plastics and Linpac Recycling. He was previously Linpac Recycling’s general manager, having been part of the team that established the recycling business back in 1992.

Rosewood Packaging - Designer and manufacturer of timber crates, packing cases and pallets and converter of corrugated board Rosewood Packaging (Scotland) has a new sales manager. Tom Shand, who has held sales and business development roles within the packaging industry throughout his career, will account manage existing customers, work to gain new business across Scotland and develop the firm’s sales function.

Allied Glass - West Yorkshire-based glass packaging specialist Allied Glass has appointed Joe Lennie to the role of technical account manager, where his key tasks will include establishing and building relationships with both existing and new customers, providing product and technical information and participating in new product development at Allied’s Leeds and Knottingley sites.(colour print if required)

Crown - the metal packaging and closure specialist, has named Terry Cartwright, formerly senior vice-president in charge of the Asia-Pacific division’s China operations, as senior vice-president of Crown Bevcan Europe and Middle East. Crown operates 13 beverage can manufacturing facilities in nine countries across the region.(JPEG pic)
