World of Packaging Hamburg 2015 - with a finger on the pulse of the latest packaging trends

Many innovative products will be on display at World of Packaging, which on 28 - 29 January 2015 will draw representatives from a wide spectrum of packaging-consuming industries to the Hamburg Messe. Free workshops and mini-seminars on the latest hot topics complement the many-faceted exhibition programme at Empack, Packaging Innovations and Label&Print.

"We're seeing brisk demand for and lots of interest in the trade shows and content programme being offered at the World of Packaging. Seven weeks before the event opens its doors, about 190 exhibitors have booked and we already have 40% more pre-registered visitors than last year; everything is going according to plan,» says a satisfied Martina Hoffmann, easyFairs Event Director D-A-CH for the packaging industry. «It looks like we're well on track for a successful show!"

Important industry topics at a glance
Under the umbrella of World of Packaging Hamburg 2015, the three specialist trade shows, Empack, Packaging Innovations« and Label&Print, together offer visitors innovative highlights and a comprehensive overview of the entire value chain for packaging. Here are a few examples:

The packaging and display manufacturer DS Smith, Packaging Division D-A-CH, will present its HP Scitex 15000, the newest generation of high-tech digital printing machines and high-performance production plotters. These tools open up a world of new prospects, enabling the production of small lots and prototypes in offset quality, both quickly and economically. This, in turn, makes a very high degree of product individualisation possible. (Packaging Innovations, Stand E22).

Copynet INNOVATION (www.copynet.de) will debut the new haptic input systems from the market leader, 3DSystems. Visitors can experience - live - next-generation modelling and design. At the monitor, concepts can be developed easily for realisation in 3D print. 3D printing workshops will take place on both Wednesday and Thursday, from 10:30-11:00 and from 13:30-14:00, at stand H01.
Efficiency gains, cost reductions, sustainability and user friendliness are not just buzzwords; they are challenges that the packaging industry must deal with every day. For competent advice on these issues, Pierau Unternehmensberatung GmbH (www.pierau-planung.de) counts as one of the top consultancies for logistics and organisation in Europe. At Empack, they will exhibit their innovative services in the area of packaging logistics. This includes, among other things, a simulation tool that models the best possible size/shape selection and filling of packing cartons. (Empack, Stand B7)

With its modular conveyor belts, Easypack (www.easypack.net) makes it possible to supply several workstations and packing tables with environmentally friendly paper padding made from 100% recycled materials. The space-saving solution can be utilised in very small areas. They will present both this conveyor system and their ecological packaging system at Empack on Stand B12a.
Specialising in inventory software, Stat Control GmbH (www.statcontrol.net) will exhibit a novel solution for inventory counting via web-enabled devices such as smartphones or tablets. This complements existing sampling inventory systems that can reduce the overall effort required to conduct an inventory by up to 95% while guaranteeing targeted stock controlling.

Also represented are Bruno Ritter Verpackungen (www.ritterbox.de), one of Europe's leading manufacturers of high-end packaging, boxes and presentation cases. Visitors to Stand D32 at Empack can get to know a company that, for 69 years, has produced packaging for brand-name goods - without ever having exhibited at a trade show. There, they will find out how fast and simple it is to have an individualised solution tailored exactly to their premium products. On display will be samples of aesthetic and functional packaging that further increase the perceived value of the high-end goods contained within.

No spattering or splashing, just rapid and accurate pouring: That is now possible with the new containers sporting additional air intake openings that Plastikpack GmbH (www.plastikpack.de) have recently begun producing. At Empack, Stand G14, the plastic jugs will be available for hands-on testing.

Domino Deutschland GmbH (www.domino-deutschland.de) will display their water-jet-proof (IP66) and stackable A520i Continuous Inkjet Coder in stainless steel housing. Thanks to i-Tech intelligent technology capabilities, the system offers low operating costs and consistent performance levels even in harsh production environments, as well as quick, simple and intuitive operation.

(Label&Print, Stand F11) Quicklabel Systems (www.QuickLabel.de) will present its first series of pigment colour label printers. The Kiaro! D series is a complete product line of digital colour label printers for printing especially long-lasting labels. They are to be found on Stand C12.

Social media comes to life
In their packaging blog LOOK & LIKE, Sandra Tennemann and Laura Haberkorn feature innovations, designs and pure creativity - and their blog will be staged live at Packaging Innovations. In a unique, interactive exhibition space next to the PIA Centre, visitors will be offered a glimpse into a variety of brand worlds. Laura Haberkorn explains: «Direct from the World Wide Web to Hamburg - our blog will touch down at Packaging Innovations 2015 so that you can see the most fabulous packaging designs in person and up close. In addition, we'll keep you up-to-date with the latest news and highlights from the show, both online and offline.» One of the visualised exhibits will be of the Vienna start-up, Design Studio Papertown, which specialises in stage design, structures and furniture made of corrugated cardboard.
