WeighPack revamps SpinDexer machine

WeighPack Systems has made changes to its SpinDexer container filler machine, designed for both high speed applications and for filling voluminous products into a small opening container.

The US-based manufacturer of complete packaging solutions says the most significant change it has made to the SpinDexer are in the PLC (programmable logic controller) controls.

We have updated the controls and software, making it more operator friendly,” WeighPack Systems says. “These changes also allow the operator complete control of the packaging process.”

The SpinDexer machine has also been made customisable: it can be easily integrated with any weighing machine, auger filler, volumetric or piston filler, or a combination of several fillers.

“We decided to take a new approach in building a standard version of the machine and then customising it to fit the needs of the operator,” the company says. “This allows us to be more flexible and reach a wider range of customers.”

The SpinDexer machine – which has been used for packaging various types of products such as nuts, dog treats, and most recently gummy vitamins – comes equipped with a servo-driven rotary star wheel that allows for a more efficient filling process.

Each container that passes through the SpinDexer is indexed around the star wheel to each station, and all indexing stations are designed for a specific role.

Equipped with travelling funnels, product is dropped from a filling machine that then dispenses into the funnel.

The funnel then follows the container, allowing product to have time to transfer from the funnel to the container without losing production time.

Each funnel comes equipped with a no container/no fill and clog detection sensor.

The SpinDexer’s PLC controls allow the operator control of the machine’s functions through a color touch screen.
