ValueCase partnership targets healthcare board savings

24 October 2013

ValueCase is a new packaging system to process board with lower grammage, developed in partnership by three companies: packaging manufacturer Edelmann, board supplier Stora Enso and packaging machine manufacturer Uhlmann.

ValueCase offers the facility for lighter board to be given a high-quality finish, precisely coded and securely packaged at a high speed. Using Stora Enso’s GC2 board Tambrite as a base, Edelmann and Uhlmann developed processes that make it possible to easily reduce the grammage in processing.

“All in all, the economical solution results in savings potential in the double-digit percentage range,” Edelman Group says. “The lower overall weight means less loading volume, less transport volume as well as lower CO2 emissions.”

The Edelmann, Stora Enso and Uhlmann partnership is addressing an ongoing issue in the healthcare industry with the new ValueCase packaging concept.

“Tests have been ongoing for some time in this segment to determine how much the grammage of packaging material can be lowered to achieve savings potential.”
