Two UK fresh meat packers recently installed multihead weighing equipment from Aja to supply supermarkets Tesco and Waitrose with freshly diced pre pack beef and lamb.
The semi-automatic AWS and BWS Fresh Meat Multihead Weighers have been designed to address problems associated with weighing fresh meat, states Aja. Increased speeds and reliability are possible because nothing sticks and no pieces get lost or hang up during the weighing or transfer process, thanks to an Archimedes screw feeder system.
Packing speed rates are between 30 to 40 packs/minute and up to 55 packs/minute on a tandem system. Giveaway is said to average below 0.5% “with zero or minimal re wraps or weighing errors”.
