Two-part concept for cosmetics

4 May 2011

Plasticum has produced a customised design for L’Oréal cosmetics with two separate chambers that gives ‘design freedom’ and the ability to keep two formulations apart and dispense them simultaneously, says the supplier.

The Clube is a one-piece bi-injection moulded tube with integrated closure and in-mould label.

New tooling techniques have released the constraints of the extrusion process that is commonly used for the manufacturing of tubes, says Plasticum. First seen at the K 2010 show, the concept is said to offer up to 40% material savings.

Produced in one single moulding step, the body and flip-top closure are fully integrated and form just one part. The body contains two separate chambers that can be filled with two different formulations. The closure consequently has two orifices to dispense from. As soon as these formulations are mixed, they react chemically to develop the right effect.

The label features silver contours and grey metallic parts.
