Trucard board range fits the bill for Morrison Bowmore whiskies

Independent papermaking and speciality coating company Tullis Russell is to supply its SBS cartonboard range Trucard to single malt whisky specialist Morrison Bowmore for all its leading brands.

The Scotland-based company has a long-standing relationship with the leading whisky distiller, which has specified two of the company’s uncoated boards – Trucard 0 matt and Trucard 0 felt – for the outer box liner of the Auchentoshan; Glen Garioch; Bowmore Islay and McClelland’s brands.

“Much like our own business, Scotch whisky is a homegrown success story, which has developed important markets abroad,” says Nick Shepherd, Tullis Russell’s UK sales director.

“Malt whisky is one of the leading markets for premium packaging and is the perfect fit for Trucard.

“We look forward to continuing to build on our partnership with Morrison Bowmore’s brands as they go from strength to strength in the years ahead.”

Ian Hamilton, purchasing & packaging development manager at Morrison Bowmore, adds: “It’s essential that we deliver premium brands with strong packaging presence which communicates the values of quality and legacy present in every drop of our malt whisky.

“Trucard 0 uncoated was the ideal choice for the outer packaging. It provided us with two distinctive uncoated surfaces, giving us the opportunity to subtly vary the packaging styles.”

According to Tullis Russell, Trucard offers the “largest range of any SBS (Solid Bleached Sulphate) cartonboard on the market today” with an “unrivalled variety” of surfaces, weights and environmental options.

“The whole range, both coated and uncoated, is FSC-certified with many 50% post-consumer waste recycled options available,” the company says.
