In an investment totaling more than €30 million, Theegarten-Pactec is to expand its existing company site in Dresden, Germany to 50,000 m².
The ground-breaking ceremony for the project, which will accommodate production facilities and office space, will take place in spring 2014.
According to the packaging machinery manufacturer, the project is set for completion by mid-2017, and is sub-divided into several construction phases, with relocation to be carried out in stages while operations remain on-going without major disturbance.
“We have outgrown our existing premises,” explains Theegarten-Pactec managing director Markus Rustler. The additional floor space is a “fundamental resource” in terms of the company’s long-term growth objectives, he says.
“Not only do the premises provide us with more space, they are also optimally tailored to our production programme.
Theegarten-Pactec says its previous buildings were geared towards the production of large series of individual models, whereas the emphasis now is on small series combined with complete automated feeding and distribution lines.
The new facility will therefore enable the required organisational structure to be established and will ensure manufacturing based on a short-distances model.
Additional free building land also takes account of the next stage of future growth. “We already meet great demand as a system provider and orders for packaging lines are set to continue to increase,” says Rustler.
In Dresden, Theegarten-Pactec manufactures around 120 packaging systems consisting of machines and feeding components a year, with a total of 90% intended for export.
