Systec SP 280 suits high volume injection moulding

6 September 2013

Sumitomo (SHI) Demag has launched the Systec SP (Speed Performance) 280, with a clamping force of 2,800kN, designed for injection moulded packaging.

According to the machinery manufacturer, the Systec SP 280 boasts fast cycling speeds and low running costs, and is suitable for varied applications including mass production of latches, lids, buckets and stacking boxes.

Using In-Mould Labelling techniques, the Systec SP 280 can manufacture 1.2-litre polypropylene buckets (84g) at a cycle time of just 5.3 seconds.

Parallel removal of the buckets and insertion of the IML label into the next mould for the next cycle is performed by high speed linear robotic handling.

Nigel Flowers, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag managing director, says: “The Systec SP model has been fine-tuned in all areas to improve product quality, quantity and lower energy consumption.

“For high volume packaging manufacturers, these enhancements aid company profitability and give the flexibility in capacity to meet future growth demands.”

The Systec SP range is available with a clamping force of 1600-4200kN, and combines a powerful electric motor for dosing and hydraulic drives for mould and injection movements, which are all supplied by a central optimised system, using the company’s activeDrive servo technology.

The Systec SP is equipped with a rapid ejection system taken from the El-Exis SP for increased production rates.
