Storopack introduces new film types for on-demand AIRplus system

29 January 2014

Storopack is launching three new types of film to extend its AIRplus air cushions range.

According to the protective packaging specialist, all three film types are ideally suited to replace conventional, pre-inflated bubble wrap.

AIRplus is an on-demand system designed to reduce storage and handling costs.

The AIRplus machine system can be set up directly at a packing station, or the machines can be set up to produce rolls of air cushions with the AIRplus Coiler.

Airplus Bubble is now available in a standard width of 400mm (Bubble 29b) and a larger width of 700mm (Bubble 53b). A single film section measures 160mm for both AIRplus Bubble film types – typically 100mm less than market standard – making them ideal for small items such as mobile phones or cosmetic packages, according to the company.

The Airplus Cushion range will be extended with one new film type containing 28 air chambers per perforated section (Cushion 28p). The film is 675mm wide, said to be ideal for wrapping larger items such as laptops.

“A typical application for wrapping individual items can be found in mixed packages for online order fulfilment,” the company says.

“Fragile goods must be protected against damage from the other products packed in the same outer box.”
