Israel-based Highcon has appointed the Staples Printing Systems Division to market, sell, support and service its Euclid laser-based folding carton technology in Italy, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands and Greece.
Based in the Netherlands, Staples has also purchased a Highcon Euclid, to be installed in a new centre of excellence demonstration suite in Brussels in early November.
Wouter Van Dijk, president of the Staples Printing Division in Europe said: “Once we heard what Highcon was doing, we knew that it fitted perfectly with our own digital strategy and that of many of our customers.
“The requirement for fast turnaround and short run cartons is growing and the Euclid is a unique and exciting solution.”
Covering extensively prepress, print and finishing product, the Staples printing division has an established reputation in the folding carton sector using Heidelberg equipment, at subsidiary companies including Macchingraf in Italy, Tetterode in The Netherlands, Plantin in Belgium, Hartmann in Spain and BTI-Hellas in Greece.
Nigel Tracey, Highcon international sales director, said: “What impressed us from the outset was not only Staples’ deep knowledge of the folding carton sector, but also the commitment to support the customers through their extensive service organisations.”
Staples plans to deliver Highcon machines to a number of its customers in Q4 this year.
