Specialist packaging company merger creates 'one-stop' shop

Leading specialist corrugated packaging company DiamondPak has announced it is merging with print finishing specialist PH Laminators.

South Wales-based DiamondPak, whose client list includes Barclays, John Lewis and Pets at Home, took over PH Laminators in Bristol to create a 'seamless' end-to-end service for its customers.

DiamondPak MD Russell Davies said: "PH Laminators is one of the best-regarded finishing houses in the country, with long-standing relationships with companies like Debenhams. Similarly, DiamondPak has created a strong customer base with recognised brands like Tesco and Play.com, through our ability to work on more specialised projects.

"Together, we will have a much stronger offering in the marketplace. Few companies in the UK will be able to match the 'one stop shop' we can now offer by bringing together the design and manufacturing of packaging with high quality, 'point of sale' quality, litho printing."

DiamondPak, has built a reputation for 'thinking outside the box' with its creative approach to bespoke packaging. Set up in 2008, the company has become of the UK's fastest growing corrugated packaging manufacturers, employing 65 people at its Pontypool site.

Bristol-based PH Laminators was set up 20 years ago and employs 11 people.

Mr Davies added that the two operations would continue on their existing sites.

"Both parts of the business have very talented and skilled staff and there will be no job losses, with Donna Millard staying on as manager in Bristol," he said. "This merger is all about securing future growth and market share. PH Laminators has a strong reputation and market recognition, so it will continue to operate under its current brand name.

"The merger will mainly involve administration with areas like accounts, stock control, sales and marketing brought together to provide a seamless service for our clients."

The newly merged company is expected to have a combined turnover of £7m.
