Corrugated packaging company Smurfit Kappa was named Company of the Year at the Business & Finance Awards 2013 ceremony in Dublin, Ireland on 12 December 2013.

The Business & Finance Awards have been recognising excellence in Irish business for more than 30 years – the longest running business awards program in the country.

The ‘Company of the Year Award’ recognises the company which best demonstrates outstanding business leadership, sustainable growth, innovative strategy, strong financial returns and employee development.

The award reflects the views of business leaders and entrepreneurs throughout Ireland’s leading companies – CEOs from Ireland’s top 500 companies are approached for their nominations for the Company of the Year Award and the winner is selected by a jury of their peers.

Smurfit Kappa faced strong competition for the 2013 award from other shortlisted companies including Paddy Power, Glanbia, Aer Lingus, Eircom, Sky, Greencore and Intel.
