Looking to further expand its growth in the Asian region, industrial packaging company Mauser Group has opened a new steel drum plant in Singapore.
Built in only 18 months since spring 2011, the new site enables Mauser to triple its steel drum production in Singapore, and follows the recent opening of the Germany-based company’s new site in China.
The 10,000sqm Singapore site will be able to produce plain drums, inside-coated drums and open-top drums, and replaces a former Mauser site in Singapore, which has been manufacturing uncoated drums since 2006.
The new site enables Mauser to introduce a leaner and more automated production, in line with the company’s increasing global focus on sustainability and ecology.
“This plant in Tuas Bay Drive is one of the most advanced, efficient and modern steel drum factories of its kind in the world,” says Stefan Wiedenhöfer, general manager Mauser Singapore.
“We will be able to react much more efficiently in Singapore to the growing demand for reliable industrial packaging solutions, especially from the chemical industries.”
The final stage of the facility will be completed by the end of this year when the second of its two production lines will come online.
