Germany-based measurement instrumentation specialist Siko has launched the KP09P pneumatic clamping plate and a new absolute magnetic multi-turn encoder with SSI interface, the WV36M/SSI.
The new pneumatic clamping plate KP09P for the first time enables locking of all adjustable axes with the push of a button – compared to conventional manual clamping levers, locking the spindles is achieved with compressed air.
For the correct positioning of all adjustment axes, the connected clamping plates are pneumatically admitted by means of a control command, fixing the spindles into position with a holding torque of up to 3nm.
“Siko has been a global fixture for spindle positioning in production machines and electronic and mechanical position indicators for many years,” says product manager Sven Wischnewski.
“To ensure smooth production, it would appear obvious to fix the set position values, determined with the aid of the Siko counter, with a clamping device.”
The company recommends the “tried and tested” Siko counter DA09S due to its combined use of display and clamping plate.
“The compact and robust design of the KP09P can also be used as an independent machine element in order to lock any type of rotating adjustable axes of a machine,” says Wischnewski.
“The flat design with a hollow shaft maximum diameter of 30mm ensures that the clamping plate can be optimally integrated into existing machine designs.”
Absolute magnetic multi-turn encoder WV36M/SSI
Described as “cost-effective”, Siko says its new encoder is designed for high loading, due to its double ball bearing.
The WV36M/SSI is suited to positioning tasks in mechanically difficult environments thanks to its wear-free magnetic measuring principle and battery-free multiturn technology.
“The integrated absolute measuring technology enables the safe and exact recording of rotations even when powered off,” says product manager RotoLine, Mathias Roth. “After a power-off state all values are immediately available again without any loss of data.”
The integrated technology makes a resolution of 8,192 rotations (13bit) possible, as well as a single-turn resolution of 12bit (4,096 steps per rotation).
Thanks to its compact design (diameter is only 36.5mm) the WV36M/SSI can also be used in applications with limited installation space.
