Signode launches SBM strapping machine range

20 March 2013

Signode says its new SBM Series is a "new generation" of European-built strapping machines offering customers: "Higher productivity, simple operation combined with well proven technology and low cost of ownership."

The company, part of the US-based ITW group, says a wide range of machine options means the SBM Series can be tailored to suit almost any packing application, from stand-alone, operator controlled machines to fully automated production line installations.

Of the system’s two main models, the SBM 2000 is designed for use with 5mm Dylastic polypropylene strap and offers a “fast, reliable and economical solution” for lighter general purpose packaging applications.

The SBM 4000 range uses 9/12mm Dylastic strap and is said to be ideal for medium to heavy-duty tasks. The new machines offer “very high throughput” of up to 70 strapping cycles per minute.

Signode head of marketing Gerard Young says: “In addition to offering a huge list of customer benefits, the SBM series is manufactured in our own European dedicated machine factory, using high quality European components with over 80% of these manufactured in-house.

“Customers can be certain they are getting the highest levels of quality and reliability and low ownership costs.”

Signode guarantees pack security through all its SBM machines by delivering consistent strap tension and sealing, and offers the SBM with a 12-month or one million cycle warranty.
