The €36 million investment will allow for the installation of an extrusion line that will make possible the on-site lamination of unprocessed cardboard for SIG Combibloc's aseptic carton packs.
Having commenced operations in Brazil's Paraná state in 2011, by the end of 2012 the SIG Combibloc South America set-up recorded growth of more than 60% compared to the previous year's performance.
SIG Combibloc general manager South America Ricardo Rodriguez says: "We have stepped up a gear on the factory expansion works with a further investment of 100 million Brazilian reais.
"This means SIG Combibloc has now fully completed the project in the originally announced total amount of 270 million reais."
Brazil is South America's biggest market for long-life foods packaged in carton packs, with sales of aseptic carton packs totaling more than 13 billion units in 2012, according to estimates by market researcher Canadean.
Sales are forecast to continue increasing, at a rate of 8% annually up to 2015.
Part of the New Zealand based Rank Group, in 2011 SIG Combibloc achieved a turnover of €1,450 million with around 4,870 employees in 40 countries.
