Russia’s First Carton Plant targets Europe corrugated markets

30 January 2014

Based in Kaliningrad, western Russia, First Carton Plant is taking its first steps into the European market, by presenting its corrugated and moulded packaging at an agricultural conference in Krasnik, Poland at the end of January 2014.

Companies attending the Krasnik conference, from both Poland and other countries, are described as “major consumers of corrugated packaging”.

First Carton Plant will present a wide range of products made of corrugated cardboard as well as paper pulp moulded tare. “Participation in this international event is not a coincidence,” the company says. “The First Carton factory enterprise is ready to enter European market full-scale.”

Recent innovation through another company in the Technopolis GS cluster has led to First Carton Plant adding carbon nanomaterials to its carton production, thereby “improving the characteristics and quality of carton material”.

According to the company, its favourable geographic position in western Russia allows customers to simplify logistics and reduce the cost of delivery to nearby European states.

Modern production processes at the plant are aimed at increasing sustainability: in 2013, the First Carton Plant launched a programme for processing waste paper, as well as other projects in the Kaliningrad region, encouraging the use of recycled waste paper to manufacture corrugated cardboard.

The Russia-based GS Group (formerly General Satellite) holding already operates worldwide in innovation-driven business fields ranging from telecommunications to wood processing.
