Music to the ears of environmentalists will be news of rising demand for certified material in printed packaging from the multimedia products sector.
Clear Sound & Vision (CSV) based in London, UK cites in particular an apparent growing support for Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) schemes.
The development is said to follow CSV’s production of the first record sleeve to be produced on PEFC certified paper earlier this year, for Brownswood Recordings’ Havana Cultura Remixed.
The project management company specialises in the manufacturing of CDs, CD ROMs, DVDs, vinyl pressings and associated print, packaging and design.
Its clients support both the FSC and PEFC schemes and are featuring the logos on many products, says CSV’s Managing Director Clive Robins.
CSV’s largest order is for packaging for a CD by Canadian folk artist Loreena McKennit, to be produced on PEFC certified material.
“It appears to us that the music and media industries are and have been slow on the uptake with FSC & PEFC - our aim is to change that,” says Mr Robins.
The company in 2010 achieved dual PEFC/FSC chain of custody certification, the process by which wood-based products can be traced back to responsibly managed forests.
