Leading beverage can producer Rexam has inaugurated a new aluminium line in India, at its manufacturing plant in Taloja, Maharashtra.
Operated in conjunction with joint venture partner Hindustan Tin Works, the new high speed production line represents a capital investment of approximately £30m and increases capacity at the plant to about 950m cans per year.
“This investment is fully in line with our strategy to grow in faster moving markets,” Rexam PLC chief executive Graham Chipchase.
“It will support and enable us to take advantage of the exciting opportunities the Indian market has for beverage can packaging.”
Rexam HTW was the first beverage can maker to enter the Indian market back in 2007, and the partnership now supports a number of prominent consumer brands in India through its range of beverage cans.
The company claims to be at the forefront of innovation in the Indian market, working in partnership with its customers to build the beverage can as the preferred package for drinks.
Rexam HTW India chairman Sanjay Bhatia says: “We at Hindustan Tin Works are delighted to be in a joint venture with Rexam in this new two piece beverage can investment at our existing location in Taloja. We look forward to continuing our work with Rexam to build a growing and successful business.”
