Rexam has been selected as one of only five companies in the containers and packaging sector to join the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index (DJSI).
The significant step follows Rexam’s recent Gold (top award) rating by Ecovadis, a comprehensive system used by several of the global consumer packaging company’s largest customers to monitor the sustainability performance of suppliers.
Rexam chief executive Graham Chipchase comments: “With 60 billion cans produced globally each year, Rexam places great importance on sustainability.
“The performance factors considered in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index selection process have long been engrained in Rexam’s culture.”
To be included among such an elite group of companies is, Chipchase adds: “Superb recognition.”
For more than a decade, the DJSI has tracked the performance of sustainability-driven companies worldwide, providing reliable, objective benchmarks for asset managers with sustainability portfolios.
Selection is based on social, environmental and economic performance.
