Rehrig Pacific Company First to Offer NFC-enabled Packaging and Recycling Systems
Rehrig Pacific Company announced that all of its consumer-facing merchandiser case-level packaging systems and household recycling containers will be offered with Near Field Communication (NFC) Mobile Engagement Technology. Rehrig Pacific, a leader in NFC deployment in the consumer space, plans to leverage the recent experience gained in the largest deployment of this technology in North America to reach an extended audience with its customers across all industry lines. The Company deploys Mobile Engagement Technology for food and beverage, retail, coatings, material handling, and the solid waste and recycling industries.
On the heels of Apple unveiling Apple Pay driven by NFC technology, it is expected that the millions of new users of this platform will be looking to see how this technology can be used. Rehrig Pacific's technologies allow its customers to deliver on the promise of this new engagement opportunity and reach consumers at the point of purchase or recycling using a cost effective and sustainable method of engagement. Rehrig Pacific's merchandiser packaging systems and recycling containers are readily found in a majority of the nation's retail and convenience store locations, and even in consumers' backyards.
"We are excited that Apple is added to the robust group of devices that are using NFC technology," says Kaley Parkinson, Director of Supply Chain Tech Services for Rehrig Pacific. "Our experience in this space over the last 12 months has given us insight and experience into what this type of technology can achieve. It's an opportunity for our customers; they can now have a meaningful discussion with their customers at the point of sale - the zero point of decision - like never before. It's extremely powerful."
Apple's announcement has opened the door for marketers to take advantage of the unlimited potential of NFC as a cost effective form of marketing. Rehrig Pacific's NFC Mobile Engagement Technology offers customers an anchor delivery point for multi-channel advertising and easy distribution of promotional offers within the retail environment or on household recycling containers. This is accomplished in an organic, seamless fashion already familiar to consumers through their mobile devices.
