RapTray claims ‘world first’ in MAP food-to-go single serve

27 February 2013

The UK-based company is targeting increasing demand for single serve portion options in the food-to-go market with the launch of a re-branded ‘single serve’ range that includes RapTray.

Made of lightweight board and a film laminate, the packaging is said to reduce the presence of residual oxygen to less than 1%.

RAP (Rapid Action Packaging) founding director Julian Money says: “RapTray, with its hermetically sealed design and Modified Atmosphere capabilities, provides the absolute ultimate in terms of sealing in freshness and protecting from contamination. Nothing beats it for extended shelf life and improved food freshness.”

Money describes RapTray as: “Perhaps the greatest innovation in food packaging of recent years.”

RAP will be showcasing the new RapTray at the Pro2Pac exhibition in London, 17-20 March 2013, and also unveiling new AirRap and BagRap designs.

AirRap allows food to remain in the same packaging throughout its entire lifecycle – from manufacturer to cook-off in store to point of sale – and is designed for hot food- to-go products such as paninis and savouries such as pasties and sausage rolls.

BagRap, a lightweight paper and film receptacle that can be run on existing flow wrapping lines, is designed for specialty sandwiches, providing a bespoke window offering product visibility and branding opportunities.
