Pune facility grows Cermex India presence

27 May 2013

Packaging equipment manufacturer Cermex has opened a new plant in Pune, western India.

The France-headquartered company, which became part of the new Gebo Cermex entity in early April 2013, will assemble three models of its end-of-line machinery, specially adapted to the local market, at the Pune facility.

The vertical pick and place E428 case packer is said to be perfectly suited to emerging markets, processing any light accumulable product such as soap bars and detergents.

An automatic shrink-wrapper with sealing bar is presented in a neutral film wrapping application for PET bottles, and is available in several configurations for a range of product types, including cartons, bottles and shaped products.

And the company’s P9 4-axis Gripping/Transfer Palletizer is a modular, upgradeable solution with a very compact design and speed up to 13 cycles/min, depending on pallet patterns.

According to Cermex, the company’s strategy for expansion in Asia encompasses the offering of a series of widely used models at local prices and assembled in the catchment area, as wells as the ability to design machines locally that are specially adapted to local end-of-line automation needs.

An initial 15-person team in Pune is expected to “grow quickly as business expands”, with new Cermex sales offices opening elsewhere in India, including in Delhi.
