Procap targets bottled water sector

Plastic caps and closures producer Procap has expanded its range with the launch of its 29/25 Progrip and Prospring closures, targeting in particular the bottled water market.

The Luxembourg-headquartered company says it is one of the first to launch a complete range that includes a classic ‘flat cap’ (Progrip) and a sports cap (Prospring) in the new lightweight 29/25 neck design, which first appeared on the market two years ago.

“With this new range we aim to get a foothold on the drinks market where we were less active until recently,” explains Lionel Bonvalot, Procap product manager.

“We can rely on our years of expertise in the food industry and the chemical, pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors and we want to extend this expertise to the bottled water market.”

Both Progrip and Prospring are available in six basic colours, and are designed to meet high consumer expectations in terms of ease of use.

Thanks to its inbuilt ‘thumb tab’ – a protective cap that is easy to open with the thumb – and advanced hinge function, the Prospring is easy to open with one hand. The overcap opens to an angle greater than 180° and clicks firmly into its opened/closed position for optimal comfort.

The Progrip is easy to open thanks to its low removal torque and specially designed grooves that provide improved grip.

The products are manufactured in accordance with ISO 14001 and BRC/IOP standards and premium organoleptic resin is used in the manufacturing process.

“The cap is an important component of the packaging and product experience,” says Bonvalot. “When a drink needs a cap it is not just an afterthought.”

With offices in Belgium, France, Hungary, Luxembourg, Spain and Ireland, Procap has a turnover of about €100 million and employs 400 people, manufacturing a wide range of caps and closures for the food, drinks, chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and DIY sectors.
