PPS wins Maxxium Russia contract for whisky packs

Professional Packaging Services’ (PPS) has won a contract to supply two gift packs for The Famous Grouse whisky, through Maxxium Russia.

According to the presentation packaging specialist, which was acquired by US-based InnerWorkings in May 2013, its reputation for producing innovative packaging earned PPS the new work with the Russian arm of the worldwide drinks distributor.

Working in partnership with Maxxium’s graphic design agency in London, PPS created two carry-packs, one to contain three 70cl bottles, the other for a bottle and two-glass pack.

The thre- pack was designed with a large aperture on the front panel to give the bottles visibility and to enable the customers to touch the bottles, with the design incorporating a smaller image of the three bottles, highlighted with spot UV varnish to emphasise the branding.

The second design, carrying one bottle of The Famous Grouse and two glasses secured with flocked VAC inserts, enables the pack to be displayed in an open position on shelf by placing the lid underneath the base.

A square badge logo attached to the lid has been designed so that it can be rotated, ensuring it is the right way up irrespective of whether the lid is used on the top or bottom of the box.

Once produced, PPS delivered the boxes to Tallin, Estonia for co-packing.

Ekaterina Kolesnik of Maxxium Russia said: “In addition to its creativity, PPS’s reaction times and commitment to meet our challenging deadlines in time for the Christmas market, has been most impressive.”
