PH Flexible reshores corrugated container business from Asia

20 February 2014

Packaging and supplies company PH Flexible Packaging has won back work originally placed in Asia for corrugated outer shipping containers.

According to the Derbyshire, UK-based company, convenience of supply and significantly reduced lead-time were the deciding factors in regaining orders from Bio-Medical Research, owners of the muscle tone improver system Slendertone, to supply shipping containers formed from e-flute cardboard, die-cut to shape.

PH Flexible sales manager Andy Marriott says: “Our strength in supply management, bringing together separate elements in a classic single source of supply, tailored to the requirements within a particular sector…again proved critical with the new branded packaging for Slendertone’s consumable products and accessories.”

PH Flexible was successful earlier this year in winning some of the business back from China, and the company is now in the process of working on the production and supply of updated cartons and packaging for 2014.

“Both businesses agree it’s a win-win,” says PH Flexible MD Paul Horobin. “We have significantly reduced the previous 13-week lead-time to match Slendertone’s requirements for this display packaging for its packs and devices.

Equally importantly, Horobin adds: “We have again promoted UK manufacture, purchasing the specially-made die-cuts locally and achieving a ‘far superior and consistent print and colour control’ on the completed packaging.”

PH Flexible claims it has delivered the added advantage of convenience of supply at a comparable, like-for-like price to the foreign competition, with shorter lead-times providing “significant operational and commercial advantages”.
