Petainer relaunch targets BRIC expansion

3 February 2014

Petainer is embarking on a major new international expansion, targeting India and Russia with its technology-led PET plastics packaging.

Through brand agency The House, UK-based Petainer – a leading name in the development, design and manufacture of PET food and beverage containers and packaging solutions – has repositioned its PetainerKeg PET alternative to steel kegs for draught beer wine and cider.

“PetainerKeg enables beer, wine and cider makers to export product anywhere in the world for a fraction of the cost of opening up new markets and revenue streams,” says The House.

“Ideal for export markets it is lightweight and low cost, reduces transport costs, while no cleaning means it saves water, and the taste is 100% guaranteed.”

Petainer’s aim is to add India to its global footprint and to drive further sales in Russia. The company has existing operations in Scandinavia, the Czech Republic and Russia as well as sales offices in Germany and the US.

Petainer strategy director Annemieke Hartman–Jemmett says: “We are now engaging a far wider audience keen to change the way they distribute, open new markets and reduce costs whilst creating a bigger footprint of Petainer products in our brand owner’s business.”

Petainer has also opened a new site in Russia producing recyclable PET beer kegs and water cooler bottles for the local market.

The factory, which is located 40 miles from Moscow in Klin, is equipped with a state-of-the-art SIDE blowing machine capable of manufacturing 700 kegs per hour, up to a maximum keg size of 50kg.

The facility is currently supplying 20- and 30-litre PetainerKegs to customers in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.
