Packaging Coordinators, Inc (PCI) has announced the introduction of refrigerated GMP (good manufacturing practice) packaging facilities for temperature-controlled pharmaceuticals at its facilities in the UK.
According to the US-headquartered company, which specialises in commercial packaging and clinical trial services, limited availability of stability data means there is a growing need for temperature sensitive investigational drug products to be labelled and packed within a refrigerated environment, to maintain the drugs’ efficacy.
Being focused on the rapidly changing needs of the Clinical Trial industry, PCI responded to increased customer demand for specialised temperature controlled packaging with the introduction of a dedicated capability for packaging at 2-8°C at its site in Hay-on-Wye, situated on the Welsh border with England.
“The safety of our customers’ product is of upmost importance to us,” says Tim Roberts, PCI’s associate director of clinical services.
“By introducing this additional service, we will not only be able to ensure the safety and integrity of our customers’ products, we will help make significant efficiencies to their packaging lead times of temperature sensitive material.”
