Packaging key to Therapie launch

6 December 2012

Intent on making therapeutic products more widely accessible, Greenwich Design has created the brand and packaging for the new Therapie range of products by internationally renowned aromatherapist Michelle Roques ONeil.

The London-based design company was briefed to design a luxurious brand, which would primarily appeal to the high-end, affluent, female market but would also have a visual identity that would create attention amongst a wider audience.

The result is a range of “sleek” bottles in a very rich indigo blue colour, described by Greenwich Design as: “Very fashionable, very next year’s colour.”

The Violettglas bottles are from a Netherlands-based company, Miron Glass, and were selected to meet the desired image of “the apothecary with a modern twist”.

“They were chosen because they retain a sense of the alchemy that aromatherapy products originate from, the history and character that comes from bottles containing tinctures and perfumes,” says Greenwich Design MD Simon Wright.

Products in the new Roques ONeil Therapie range include Restore Aura Spray, Himalayan Detox Salts and Equilibrium Bath and Shower Essence.

The only product not presented in the Violettglas bottle is, for safety reasons, the Therapie Boost Hair and Body Wash, for which a plastic bottle in keeping with the rest of the range was sources separately.

Graphics on the new range feature an initial ‘T’ logo, with the products’ links with nature expressed in the form of a butterfly, said to represent “natural transformation and the restorative qualities of the range”.

“The products have been designed to be easy to navigate, with each item in the range being represented with a different colour butterfly and using a clean, white uppercase font to clearly depict the individual product names,” says Wright.

“Colour, intensity, registration, distortion and fastness are factors that would have persuaded many to take the easy option and apply a label,” Wright argues.

“But the vision was always about what would you want in your bathroom, so we were tenacious in our pursuit for on-bottle printing. Is it perfect? Probably not. Does it have balance and personality? Yes.”

A Therapie Discovery Kit presentation box sourced from M.M Bell & Sons of Sheffield features orange tissue, chosen for its contrast to the blue bottles.

The Therapie range of products is intended to enable people to create their own supportive regime of aromatherapy at home.

Creator Michelle Roques ONeil comments: “I wanted something that encapsulated the ethos of Roques ONeil and that would work commercially and be attractive to trade – from high-end department stores through to bespoke spas – without losing any of our brand integrity, and Greenwich Design got it straight away.”
