New Matthews Viacode thermal inkjet offers speedy alternative

11 June 2013

US-based Matthews Marking Systems has introduced the Viacode L-Series thermal inkjet printer, which operates using the same cartridge technology as that in desktop printers.

According to the Pittsburgh-based coding & marking company, the Viacode L-Series provides high native print resolution (600 x 600 dpi) at “nearly twice the speed of previous thermal inkjet systems”.

With a variety of ink types and colours available, the L-Series is described as a clean, fast, and cost-effective alternative to thermal transfer and adhesive labels for packaging and industrial applications, marking onto paper, chipboard, corrugated, and plastics.

“This new platform makes our equipment smart, simple and scalable,” says Liz Churchill, the company’s vice president sales & marketing.

“The unique advantage is the upgrade path across technologies, production lines and facilities, making a system investment very secure.”

The L-Series is the second in a series of printers developed on the Matthews Marking Systems Viacode platform, which enables complete management of marking and coding operations.

“The intuitive, touch screen interface of the Viacode controller makes message creation and selection simple, and is aided by a built-in image editor and ERP/MRP/WMS system integration capability,” the company says.

Print head configurationsfor the Viacode L-Series thermal inkjet printer are available in ½-inch, 1-inch or 2-inch print heights.
