New FlexLink X65 conveyor ‘triples user value’

9 April 2013

Conveyor manufacturer FlexLink’s new generation X65 conveyor will bring “significantly higher value” to users, compared to existing solutions in production and packaging lines.

The Sweden-based company says the development of the new X65 conveyor platform was completed with input from leading end users and OEMs, to meet future requirements, while offering added value to the manufacturing needs of today.

According to FlexLink product manager Göran Abbestam, the X65 platform offers twice the strength compared to current standards.

“The doubled conveyor strength has a dramatic effect on the service life and maintenance intervals of systems installed,” says Abbestam.

“In addition, the layouts can be made simpler as fewer drives and transfers are required for a given layout, due to the increased maximum conveyor length."

To the user, Abbestam adds, there is a “substantial, positive impact” with less complexity and a lower cost of installation.

Features of the FlexLink X65 platform include:

  • Reduced Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) – low friction, low power consumption and a long service life; power consumption is said to be 8-44% lower compared to previous high efficiency drive units by FlexLink, dependent on the application and choice of drive unit
  • Higher capacity – capable of double the speed (120 m/min) compared to previous conveyor generations
  • Lower noise level – comparable to a “typical office level” in most common applications, and “up to 80% less” than the industry standards
  • Efficient single piece flow – unique design and standardised functions for the handling of products up to 1kg; pallets and functions are prepared for the integration of process control systems, such as track & trace and MES functionalities
